Waking up beside a demon in his full demonic glory was what finally drove home what I’d just done. The events of the day before crashed through my head all at once, making my guts twist and my vision blur. I became Nero’s master, and I mated with him until he got me pregnant.

I drop a hand to my stomach, filled with a deep sense of unease. I don’t know what this means for the spell. I don’t know what this means for my life going forward. Chained to a limitless demon for eternity doesn’t usually make for much of a happy ending.

Getting up, I make my way quietly to the bathroom. I clean up in the shower, running the water until it starts to go cold before I decide to get out. It doesn’t help me feel any better, but I’m not sure what would.

My dream, the happy ever after I was so close to, has been turned upside down. I can’t even begin to imagine what my vampires will make of this. Nero’s promise that he accepts them in my life doesn’t mean they’ll accept him. And Finn...

I sigh out loud, knowing my human lover will never be safe around a limitless demon and the chaos such a creature creates. It would be selfish to attempt to hold onto him.

Nero is still sleeping when I creep into the room to grab clothes. I need to tell my vampires what’s going on. The thought of facing the music makes me feel physically sick. Losing them would kill me. It’ll be heartbreaking enough to let go of Finn.

I hesitate momentarily before I leave Nero in the room. I’m his master now. He can’t inflict havoc without my command. All he can do is move around, shift forms. It won’t kill anyone to leave him alone even if he does wake up.

I touch my necklace as I head to the elevator. A day has passed since I left Dean and Damon to get some rest. So much has happened in that time that I barely even know where to start, but I’m going to have to figure it out.

Dean isn’t in the security office when I get down to the first floor. Damon isn’t hanging around either. It’s a little odd, so I wander into the casino to take a look around. At first glance everything seems normal. A handful of people are playing various games. Croupiers are manning the tables and waitresses are taking orders. Then I see it, and my blood runs cold.

The tall, pale man by the black jack table isn’t a man at all. The illusion he’s wearing flickers and I see the demonic entity beneath clear as day. That flicker of his true nature was for my eyes only. He’s a hell hound, and he’s been sent here because something is off balance. I can guess what that something might be.

He vanishes and I blink, spinning around. He hasn’t teleported behind me, and I can’t see him anywhere in the room now. My heart is hammering as I search the main floor of the casino with my gaze, determined to figure out where the bastard is hiding now.

  “Maeve?”

I jump at the sound of Dean’s voice, turning to him and smacking him in the stomach in a knee-jerk reaction. I try to calm down.

“Don’t sneak up on me,” I tell him, hearing the bite in my voice and wincing. “Sorry, I’m jumpy. I saw a hell hound.”

“You saw a what?” He asks, shock clear in his tone as he looks around, moving to protectively shelter my body with his.

“He vanished,” I murmur, no longer looking for the threat. “There’s something I need to tell you.”

Hell hounds like to get a good look at the problem from every angle before they attack. He let me see him because he wanted me to know he’s here. The threat isn’t imminent. It could be hours from now. Days, even.

Dean turns to me, concern in his golden eyes. “What’s wrong?”

  “Is Damon around?”

“I’ll call him, he was doing a perimeter check,” Dean says, getting his radio and calling for Damon to get to the office, without waiting for a response. “We can talk in the office.”

He takes my hand and I walk with him, willing my heart to stop racing.

“You’re shaking,” Dean says softly as we get to the door of the office.

I pull back as he opens the door. I can’t force words out of my mouth. I’m afraid. Of what will happen when Dean finds out what I’ve done. Of what the hell hound is going to do to correct the balance here. Of what kind of life I’ve cursed my unborn child into.

I shiver at my last thought. A human child would have been vulnerable. I would have been scared of every little threat to the baby’s life. I would have had to live with the heartbreak of outliving my own flesh and blood. Still, it would have been better than the thought of bringing another demon into the world. A child cursed to belong to hell when it grows old enough to be considered an adult. A child born to go through the same enslavements to humans that I did before Finn set me free.

I shudder at the thought. I can tell myself I won’t let that happen, but the truth is I won’t have any choice. A hell hound will be sent to make sure my child’s birthright is complete.

“Maeve, what’s wrong?” Dean asks as we go into the office.

He barely gets the door closed before my first tear falls and he pulls me into his arms for comfort.

As hard as I try, I can’t form the words I need to tell Dean what’s going on. All I can seem to do is cling to him while I sob onto his shoulder.

“It’s okay,” he tells me. “Everything’s going to be okay.”

He’s wrong. Nothing’s ever going to be okay again.

The door opens, and I try to pull myself together, choking back the lump that’s grown in my throat and wiping at my eyes even as Dean holds me tighter, refusing to let me go.

Damon glances at us warily before locking eyes with Dean. He nods.

“Maeve mated with Nero,” Damon says, no hint of emotion in his tone.

I pull back from Dean, waiting for his reaction.

He smiles tightly, wiping at a still damp spot on my cheek. “We know.”

“You’re mates,” Damon explains, shrugging. “The geode wasn’t the charm. Dean worked it out and I walked by your room to make sure you were okay.”

“I’ve ruined everything,” I whisper, as Dean’s gaze drops to my lips.

“You’ve ruined nothing,” Dean tells me, leaning in and pressing his mouth to mine, pulling me in close enough to feel the rock-hard length of his shaft against my stomach. His kiss is ravenous, and leaves me breathless. I moan as his tongue caresses mine, and I feel Damon’s hands at the edges of my skirt, his lips grazing my nak
ed shoulder.

The elation that flows through me on realizing my vampires still want to be with me despite my demon mating bond with Nero sends a rush of heat through my body that pricks my nipples into stiff points and slickens the entrance between my legs.

Damon’s hands inch my skirt up as his fangs graze my shoulder, his movements slow as he toys with the idea of sinking those fangs into my neck. I try to remember the last spot Dean bit me, to figure out if Damon can’t or won’t bite me right now, and then I realize he bit me in two different places after I rescued him from Nero’s previous master’s house.

The idea that he’s no longer restricted to following Dean’s bite registers just as he sinks his teeth into the vein in my throat. Pure bliss flows into me as my blood pumps into his mouth. I feel a trickle of blood roll down my breast, and a damp feeling as he drinks slowly and licks at the dripping excess.

Dean’s kiss relents enough to allow me to steal a few breaths before he claims my mouth once more. I realize I’m only being held by Damon when I feel the tip of Dean’s cock push between my legs. I feel Damon’s fangs retracts, his tongue slicking over the mess he made at my neck. He groans and I feel his straining cock pushing against my ass just as he lifts me off the ground with one strong arm, and uses the other to prop me up from beneath.

I part my legs wider as I realize Damon’s intent was to open me up to Dean. These guys really can read each other’s minds. Dean pulls my legs around his waist and glides his cock inside me in one swift, slick movement that makes me gasp.

I wrap my arms around his neck and he dips his head to lap at the trickle of blood that Damon let escape from his bite. I arch my back to push my breast higher and he sucks the thin material of my dress into his mouth as he enjoys rocking my nipple between his teeth, softly chewing in a way that makes me groan so low and desperately that it never fails to make his cock swell.

He moves back, licking at his lips, his desirous gaze shifting behind me. “Get the lube from the desk drawer.”

He holds me on his cock when Damon moves away. I moan at the loss of Damon’s body, but my heart races at what Dean has in store for us. He never asks for lube unless he’s going to fuck my ass, but something about what we’re doing right now feels different. I can’t put my finger on it. I just shiver in delight as Damon comes back around behind me and his lubricated fingers rub against my anus.

I gasp as he starts to probe the opening, getting me nice and slick while Dean’s hands hold my ass apart for him. The feeling is intense enough to make me shiver and shake as Damon gets me ready to take his thick shaft. I’m so wet and ready that when Dean leans in and chews slowly on my nipple, I come hard around his cock, my cunt contracting to milk his shaft as he moans against my breast.

“You two are going to kill me,” I breathe out, sucking in a breath when I feel the lubricated head of Damon’s cock push against the tight hole of my anus. He feels too big. I stiffen as he pushes inside, the lube helping. The pain keeps me still for a second, and I remember why I don’t often take Damon’s cock like this. He’s thicker than Dean, he stretches me out more. It only hurts for a second, but Dean nips my breast to push a bite high through me and get me through to the other side instantly. The rush makes me buck between them, enjoying the fullness and friction their cocks buried inside me creates. I rock my body, holding onto Dean and leaning back into Damon.

Damon pulls the front of my dress down. I hear something tear and ignore it. His hands stroking over my breasts keeps desire sparking within me. I come as they begin to thrust into me, taking charge of the tempo and making me cry out.

Damon bites me while I’m still riding the aftershock, letting blood trickle down over my breasts and slowing his thrusting. I’m gasping and on the brink of ecstatic overload when Dean begins lapping up the spilled blood. I come for a third time sandwiched between them, both lovers tasting my blood while I’m moaning out their names.

Damon is the first to spill inside me. His climax follows mine closely, and I feel it in the way his body stiffens behind me. He keeps his still hard cock inside me while Dean finishes, his eyes practically glowing as he thrusts harder into me, his mouth damp with my blood.

“This will never be ruined,” he whispers, licking at his lips as he spills inside me.

“Never,” Damon assures, kissing my neck.

I hold onto them both closely for a few moments before Damon removes his cock and lifts me down. My thighs slicken and I realize my dress is beyond repair as I try to pull the top back into place. The blood would have likely ruined it anyway. I let the top half slip off, leaving me in a strange looking skirt with blood-spattered breasts.

Dean smiles as he pushes his still straining shaft back inside his pants. “You should always look this ravishing.”

“You just like the blood,” I tease him.

“He likes that you smell of us now too,” Damon leans in to whisper.

Of course he does. “I should really start leaving spare dresses around this place.”

“You could always teleport to your room,” Damon suggests.

It reminds me that a demon is sleeping in my bed. While a hell hound is sniffing around. Shit.

  “What’s wrong?” Damon asks.

“The hell hound,” Dean says, smiling grimly at me. “We need to do something about him.”

He’s right. We do. I wish I knew what. “Any ideas?”

“Just one,” Dean tells me, picking up the phone.

Nero is safe and sound when I teleport back to the room to wash the blood off me and change my clothes. He’s still sleeping, a peaceful rumbling from his chest as it rises and falls.

My demon mate snores. It’s kind of adorable.

I just wish I knew if it was normal for him to sleep this much. We were always sneaking around in hell, trying to keep our mate bond secret. It was forbidden to form one without the express consent of the council of devils. They prided themselves on ensuring only pure matches. We weren’t one of those. Mixing affinities produced unpredictable offspring. It wasn’t allowed.

This is why the hell hound is here.

I don’t know what he’ll do, but I know it isn’t going to be anything good. Luck won’t save me from what he’s been sent here for. I don’t know anything that will.

“Wake up,” I say, shaking him by the shoulders.

I need him to figure this out. Dean’s plan relies on a witch casting a spell to identify and capture the hell hound. It’ll buy us time, but it’s not a real solution. Destroying the hell hound or keeping him captive will only persuade hell to send another, and another, until eventually one of the devils will show up with a worse punishment than was originally intended just to stop us from causing any more trouble.

“Wake up, Nero. I need you.”

He isn’t listening. I sigh as I sit on the edge of the bed, worrying over what might happen next. I’d do anything to protect the child growing inside of me. The trouble is the hell hound will know that. He’ll use it. He’ll give me an impossible choice.

Or he’ll give the choice to Nero. I don’t know. I can only guess what he’s thinking. I only know he’s here to hurt us.

I spend a few more minutes trying to get Nero to wake up, before I give up and teleport back to the security office. I try to keep hold of the positives. Capturing the hell hound will be a good start. We can figure the rest out later.

The witch has short dark hair and has a decidedly average twenty-something woman vibe to her, though she makes it clear from her experience that she’s at least twice the age that she looks, probably older.

“I’m Anna,” she introduces herself, the hint of an Eastern European accent lending a cold, clipped tone to her voice. “I hear you have hell hound to be rid of.”

She sets things down on the desk as Dean steps back and comes to wrap an arm around me.

  “How is he?” he asks.

  “Nero’s sleeping,” I tell him.

Anna snorts. “Is not sleep. Is trance.

“Um, what?” I ask, alarmed by her amusement as much as I am by her words.

“Do you know nothing, child? Hell hound comes when male half of mating is in a deep trance. He chooses whether to bring female back to hell for the devil’s council to decide her child’s fate, or to go into male’s trance and make him offer.”

I glance warily at Dean. He’s known this woman a long time. He trusts her. He nods at me. What she’s telling us must be the truth.

  “What offer?” I ask.

She snorts once more, shrugging. “Is specific to individual.”

“What would make him choose to do that instead of the other thing?” I ask, swallowing the lump that’s rising in my throat at the thought of that other thing. I can’t let it happen. No-one gets to take my baby away from me.

“Usually, is the weakest partner he picks.”

The weakest? “Nero is a limitless djinn. I’m the weaker one out of us both.”

She shakes her head. “Your will is strong. You defied your last master to free yourself and have proved selfless many times in your actions. Your mate has many weaknesses.”

“So how do you capture the hell hound?” I ask, trying not to think about the rest. My fate, and the fate of our child rests on Nero’s shoulders now. I can’t doubt him. I chose him. I have to trust whatever the offer is, that he makes the right choice for us all.

“I cast spell. He goes in bottle. You ask your questions before he escape. Spell is done.”

I cross my arms. That’s it? That’s the plan?

“It’s enough to work with,” Dean tells me quietly.

“How?” I ask, my voice sounding faint to my own ears. I look around. “Where’s Damon?”
